Antwerpen Shines

Returning from the 2024 edition of the EATLP Conference (European Association of Tax Law Professors), a significant event that has greatly contributed to my professional development. I had the privilege of attending (most of the) presentations on tax and Inequalities, which have enriched my understanding of these complex issues.

These days, discussing inequalities is like discussing the existence of God. It would take months/years / a lifetime, and yet we would find ourselves back at square one.

But I remember what a philosopher once said. We don't know whether God exists or not, but the Idea of God exists, and it works for good or bad). I believe the same is true for inequality. Inequalities exist, but their magnitude, understanding, and the ways and means to address them vary according to the time, the person, and the geographical and political landscape.
